Rock Reamer / Hole Opener Introduction Horizontal Hole Openers, also known as HDD Reamers, are used to enlarge the pilot hole in Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) - HDD is used when trenching and excavating is not practical. This drilling technology allows for a steerable trenchless way to drill underground. There are three stages, the first stage is to drill a small
diameter pilot hole. The second stage is to enlarge the hole with a larger diameter cutting tool called an HDD
Reamer, Rock Reamer, or Hole Opener. The third stage is inserting the casing pipe or other product
into the enlarged hole.
Hole opener's OD is between 220mm to 1800mm.
The suitable tooth type will be chosen,bearing structure, sealing type and angle of inclination of paws.water cutting, good sand returning can efctivele reduce sand gathering. Unique anti-faling design of cones prevent the accidents caused by falling cones which are leaded by bearing damage. Perfect welding process prevents the damage to sealing and bearing system because of over beat. The bit body adopts a spiral design with good stabilizing and sand returning performance to improve hole opening speed reducing repeating rock breaking of cones.
